Honda Acty
VS
Daihatsu Hijet

The Honda Acty and Daihatsu Hijet both represent the best of Japanese kei truck engineering, but they have meaningfully different personalities. The Acty is the workhorse — proven, reliable, and available in more bed configurations. The Hijet is the refined one — smoother ride, roomier cab, and home to the coveted Climber lifted variant.

Choose the Honda Acty When…

Choose the Honda Acty if reliability history and parts availability are paramount. The Acty has a longer proven track record in the US import market. It's also the truck to get if you want a dump bed, crawler variant, or fire truck specialty build — Acty simply has more configuration diversity.

Choose the Daihatsu Hijet When…

Choose the Daihatsu Hijet if you spend time in the truck (longer drives, multiple passengers) or want a lifted off-road setup. The Hijet's EF-SE engine is famously smooth, and the Jumbo extended-cab variant gives you real legroom. The rare Climber edition comes factory-lifted with off-road tires — something Acty doesn't offer.

Our Verdict

Workhorse buyers lean Acty; comfort-and-adventure buyers lean Hijet. The Hijet Climber is in a class of its own for off-road buyers. The Acty is the safer general-purpose choice.
